Apparently I have a track record of borrowing my coworkers' dogs for photos. Remember Mostly from this post? Well this, folks, is Biggie. And I'm smitten with him.
This is one of those particular outfits that doesn't get documented often here on the blog -- it's usually a thrown together combination of this jacket that I wear to death and these boyfriend jeans, as I run out the door for early morning meetings. Usually I opt for heels to elevate the look but figured I would let the lipstick work its magic and slipped on my new Charlotte Olympia flats instead (scored at an unbelievable price at Jeremy's!).
With all this eye candy coming in daily from the Paris shows (both on the runway and off), I decided to attempt my best Parisian punk outfit. It's a little nod to Yasmin, Caroline and Mira thrown into one -- or so I like to tell myself.
This skirt always makes me smile -- I'm so glad I stalked it on The Outnet when they had their Stella McCartney drop last year. I practically did an equivalent of a touchdown dance when I nabbed the last one in my size (don't act like you've never done that before!).

Considering my closet has been somewhat in shambles since moving, I've been living in these overalls on the weekends. While I'll always be a sucker for more polished looks (like this outfit) there's a fun challenge in dressing up overalls. Granted, for most of this particular day of loading and unloading furniture, I wore my trusty Rodarte shirt, flats and a SF Giants cap -- but come dinner time, I swapped out a few key pieces to feel a bit more pulled together. Confession: I may have taken a tip or two from this gal (but what else is new?).
Thanks for all the well wishes for our move! We're just about unpacked and the list of things we'll need to start shopping for has started. First on the list? A headboard. Any good recs? I'm torn between something more regal, like a tufted board or something untraditional (perhaps a cowhide rug as a friend suggested recently?).
On an unrelated note, I'm a bit behind on editing my photos from New York, but you can count on some show photos tomorrow, including my favorites from the J.Crew presentation and my fan girl moment after seeing Jenna Lyons and Garance Doré chat casually off to the side. Talk about major girl crush combo!
Hope you're all enjoying your three-day weekend! The man friend and I have been crazy busy moving into our new apartment and I'm proud to report the closet is almost back to working order (shoes have temporarily taken over our living room though). Took a brief break yesterday for some brunch and sale shopping with a few of my favorite ladies, which was just the pick me up I needed to get through the rest of my closet organization.
I wore this for my last (and warmest!) day in New York for the J.Crew presentation. You all know I'm a sucker for black and white and as it turns out, my friend Alicia happened to be sporting it this particular day as well (you can see her look here -- I'm dying over her slouchy leather pants!). She and I thought nothing of it actually until Bill Cunningham came over to where we were chatting and asked us if we had coordinated our monochromatic looks. I think both of our hearts melted at that exact moment -- definitely one of my favorite highlights of the trip!
Landed back in San Francisco last night after a whirlwind NYC trip. My week is shaping up to be a lot of catch up at work (that inbox is looking scary!) and prepping to pack up my apartment this weekend(!!!). All I can keep thinking: is it Friday, yet?
When I was getting ready to leave for Fashion Week, the last thing I packed for was an impromptu blizzard. Luckily, we came out on the other end just a bit colder and scared from one hellish cab ride the night it hit so my thoughts go out to anyone who was directly affected. And while my shoes are a bit worse for wear (damn you deceivingly deep puddles at street corners!), you can't beat seeing a snow white New York. The West Village, in particular, just looked magical dusted in snow the next day.
Vest: Marni (love this Marni vest too); Sweater: Wasteland in SF; Jeans: Current/Elliot; Shoes: c/o Sigerson Morison; Jewelry: Dannijo necklace (similar style here), Michael Kors watch; Sunglasses: Karen Walker; Wallet: Proenza Schouler c/o dressed
Sometimes you have every intention of meeting a friend for coffee, but after you both run a few hours late, you just decide to meet up for wine instead. Right Heather? 🙂
I don't know about you, but this week has wiped me out! I'm looking forward to unwinding a bit this weekend with some good meals (my dad comes to visit on Saturday!) and watching the 49ers play in the Super Bowl.

Some mornings, when early meetings demand it, you just have to go on autopilot as to what works in your wardrobe in a time crunch. For me, I usually grab a pair of shoes I've been itching to wear, some boyfriend jeans and a blazer/stripes combo of some sort. It's not exactly rocket science, but I do feel pretty clever when people think I spent much more time on the outfit than I really did. For this outfit in particular, I blame it on the Chanels, which I posted about here first.
What do you throw on when you're running out the door?
Turtleneck: J.Crew; Pants: Alexander Wang (similar style here); Shoes: Valentino; Bag: Chanel; Sunglasses: Ray-Ban; Watch: Michael Kors
While I'm a fan of monochromatic looks (this yellow one from last year is still a favorite!), I usually steer clear of wearing entirely black -- something about it feels too severe, too somber to me. But after a few gloomy days last week, it seemed only fitting to copy cat this look I've been eyeing -- with my newest closet addition: these relaxed leather A. Wang pants, which were buried away on a rack at Jeremy's. At a fraction of their original price with the perfect amount of slouch, they had me at hello.
One of my favorite collections this past fall was from Stella McCartney -- which really is about par for the course since she always seems to pull off polished with a slight edge with such panache. In other words, a woman after my own heart. So like a lot of other girls, I fell head over heels for her sportier collection this past fall and while I couldn't snag this one at a comfortable price (sigh), I was ecstatic to find this dress majorly on sale at Barneys this past weekend when I was out shopping with my mom. Last one, in my size, with a few redlined prices on the tag. Love it when that happens.
Sweater: J.Crew; Pants: c/o J.Brand; Shoes: J.W. Anderson X Aldo; Bag: Chanel; Sunglasses: Ray-Ban; Headband: BCBG (similar style here)
The man friend and I may or may not have unintentionally coordinated outfits this particular day, he in a chunky knit cream sweater and myself in this deliciously oversized turtleneck. Normally, I would have just thrown on a different colored sweater, but then I remembered I had this spiked headband from BCBG that could be the differentiating factor I was looking for -- to which he replied, "You kinda look like the Statue of Liberty." Compliment? Sure, I'll take it. 😉
It's been a great week having my mom out here visiting -- finally heading out to Alcatraz today and hopefully hitting the ice skating rink at Union Square before they close it for the season. Any fun weekend plans on the books for you guys?
I often get asked how I decide which pieces to invest in and which ones to pass on -- something that I'm, in all honesty, still trying to figure out myself as I get older. I am, however, a firm believer in finding and ponying up for statement work dresses -- ones that can easily transition from a day full of meetings to cocktail hour afterward with just a few simple accessory changes. This dress in particular, a Proenza Schouler beauty I stalked for weeks before it went on major sale, is a great example of how just a few simple layers (under or over the dress) can make a huge difference in the overall aesthetic of the outfit. I felt polished at work but could easily ditch the button up shirt for dinner for two later on.
My mom is visiting this week, which means we're slowly working our way through a mini San Francisco bucket list. (I, for one, am always up to playing tourist in my own city!) Favorites on the agenda? Oddly enough, after living here for several years now, I've never been out to Alcatraz, which we're tackling later this week (on the night tour no less!). And of course, we might have to throw in a visit or two to Jeremy's.
After several three-day work weeks the past month or so, it's catch up time in a big way! Lots of heads down time for me this week to wrap up a few projects -- Friday can't get here soon enough!

Finally sweet talked the man friend enough to see Les Miserables with me last night. I, of course, have every song now stuck in my head (quite apropos for a Monday, no?)...and he, dare I say it, actually enjoyed it more than he thought he would.
Jacket: Zara (similar style here); Dress: Zara; Fur Tippet: H&M (love this leopard version here); Shoes: Valentino; Bag: Chanel; Sunglasses: Elizabeth & James; Watch: Michael Kors; Lips: Nars "Heat Wave"
Hope you all had a wonderful start to 2013! The man friend and I had a mini "Homeland" marathon, leaving the apartment only to grab some burgers and fries from Burgermeister. It was exactly what we needed.
Another New Year's Eve has snuck up me, which means I'm digging through my closet today to dig up all the glittery, sequined pieces I can find. Or maybe I'll just swing by for this Zara dress -- I'm a sucker for black and white outfits after all.
Do you guys know what you'll be wearing at midnight tonight?
Shirt: J. Crew (similar style here); Vest: c/o Google; Skirt: Zara (similar style here); Shoes: J.W. Anderson X Aldo; Clutch: Kate Spade (gift from the man friend!); Sunglasses: Karen Walker
Cheers to the last Friday of 2012! Hope you all have a happy (and safe) new year!
